ABOUT

We each have a unique path to explore throughout our lives.  That path may at times be confusing or even frightening.  Along the way, we may need extra support and care, a safe place to realize our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in deeper and more meaningful ways to find healing.   It is through connection that we can find our way along these paths, these wooded paths that lead to our truest and most resilient selves.

I am a licensed professional counselor and trauma-informed therapist who works collaboratively with clients to help them make the lasting changes they seek.  I create a safe, trusting, and supportive environment so you can feel less isolated and more connected and understood.  This becomes the foundation on which we work to help you build your self-awareness and develop the tools to improve the quality of your life.  My goal is to help you take what you learn in the therapy setting out into the life you inhabit.

I specialize in life transitions, anxiety and depression, self-esteem, women’s issues, stress management, and trauma-related issues.  I work from a strength-based foundation with an integrative approach incorporating humanist, feminist, and multicultural perspectives along with various tools such as mindfulness, meditation, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed care. I see adolescents through older adults. As a social justice advocate, I have experience with a diverse client-base, including those who have experienced marginalization due to chronic illness, disability, ageism, minority religious/spiritual orientations and LGBTQ+ identity.

My own path has been wide and varied; I began as a ballet and modern dancer in my adolescence and young adult life where I cultivated a love and affinity for art and understanding of disciplined work.  I then shifted my attention to science and the natural world and received a degree in geological science with work experience as an environmental geologist.  I became the mother of child with various abilities and disabilities and transformed my lived experience into the professional as a legal advocate for people with disabilities and their families.  That adventure led me to want to work more directly with people so that they could become their own advocates in life, regardless of the challenges they may encounter.
